NewsNine Black Alps premiere new songs at Carling Weekend: Leeds FestivalNine Black Alps showcased three new songs at the Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival this afternoon (August 26). The Manchester four-piece attracted a huge crowd over at the NME/Radio 1 Tent as the band powered through a set which leaned heavily towards their debut 'Everything Is'. The quartet also took time to perform a host of downbeat new tracks 'Bitter End', 'Heavier Than Water' and current single 'Burn Faster' from their forthcoming album 'Love/Hate'. Of the new songs singer Sam Forrest told NME.COM: "We spent two years travelling around the world playing the same songs over and over again so I wanted to do something different with the new songs. "Screaming my head off night after night with the first album started to give me migraines. Eventually I had to see an osteopath because I did my neck in, I was screaming that loud. A lot of the songs are just sadder, less angry there, less venting of the spleen." Lady Sovereign reacts to criticism of Brooklyn show Lady Sovereign has commented on her recent set at Brooklyn venue Studio B during which she played just two songs before storming off the stage. The rapper was set to perform a set at 1.30am following her support slot with Gwen Stefani at PNC Bank Arts Centre, New Jersey but came onstage two hours late at 3.30am after her tour bus reportedly broke down. During the set Lady Sovereign made several negative comments about the small size of the crowd, admitted that she was just doing the show for the money and that she was tired of playing her songs. She stormed off stage after two songs saying she didn't care if she got paid. In a statement released today, she said "I know how stupid i must have looked on Friday, I was tired and not in the mood, having a bad day. But that's no excuse for letting fans down, I'm sorry to those that were at Studio B to see me". Lady Sovereign will return to New York for a performance on July 7, at the opening night of Spiegeltent. |
